Service - General Information
In normal circumstances we ask you to arrive at your property on the changeover day between 4 - 7pm. This allows adequate time for each property to be thoroughly checked between lets. For the same reason, you will be expected to leave before 10am (these timings will be confirmed for each property). Special arrangements must be made with us in advance for you to gain access outside these times. When booking your flight tickets or ferries please allow sufficient time to reach your destination and if you require any help or guidance our Reservations staff will be delighted to assist.
When selecting your holiday accommodation, please study the description carefully. We do try to guide customers to the most appropriate property depending on the party size and whether you are seeking modern comfort, convenience or character. Furthermore, for those of you not already familiar with this type of holiday, it is necessary to explain the following:
Please remember that in more traditional accommodation, room sizes will be variable and that staircases may be open tread. Wherever possible we try to point these out in our descriptions, but you should allow for some variations. It should be noted that many of the properties we feature are only open in the summer months and therefore may be a little musty on arrival. In the case of the older properties, small patches of damp and cracked plaster may be apparent. Most properties are situated in the countryside. If the owners are residing nearby some may have cats or dogs.
Furniture – Most of our properties are privately owned so the type and standard of furnishing does vary according to individual taste. You may also find that the furnishings are in the traditional style and may not be recent. Floors are often tiled whilst bedrooms may often, though not invariably, be carpeted.
Kitchens – All have a fridge, cooker, plus other basic utensils with crockery, cutlery and glasses for the maximum advertised number of persons.
However, you may not always find either a kettle or a tea pot and in smaller apartments you will find hot plates rather than an oven. Dishwashers, washing machines and freezers are often provided, especially in some of the larger houses and where available are indicated under the relevant property description.
Barbecues – Please note that in some areas there may be a ban imposed on the lighting of barbecues. This is especially so during the very dry periods. The key holder will advise you if a ban is in force.
Wildlife – For those not already familiar with a rural environment and a warmer climate, we should explain that wildlife often attempts to share your holiday. The odd fieldmouse and an occasional insect may arrive uninvited and the summer may even bring some mosquitoes. These can easily be deterred by buying a small electric diffuser from the local chemist or supermarket and plugging it in overnight.
Noise – Due to the fact that many of our properties are situated in residential or rural areas it is impossible for us to predict disturbance created by road works, building works, farm machinery or traffic.
Swimming pools – Many of our properties have either private or shared swimming pools. The latter may be shared with other guests and/or the owners. Pools are not normally heated (unless otherwise stated in the property description) and may not be available outside the peak months - please check with our reservations staff at the time of booking. The use of swimming pools, which are unsupervised, is entirely at your own risk. Some, but not all pools, are fenced off, and parents should ensure that young children are supervised in swimming pools at all times.
Early & Late Season – The possibility exists that some of the advertised facilities such as tennis courts, sports activities etc and certain shops and restaurants may not be available at the beginning or end of the season due to adverse weather conditions and/or lack of demand.
Gardens – We try to make clear in our descriptions when a garden is enclosed. We cannot, however, guarantee, that if it is so, that it will be impossible for children to escape. Parents should therefore be responsible for ensuring that their children are kept under a watchful eye at all times.
Safety – All of the properties featured do conform with local health and safety regulations. However, please bear in mind that French standards may differ from the UK particularly with regard to plumbing, electrical wiring and fixtures and fittings.
Bicycles – At certain properties bicycles are provided free of charge for guests’ use, although we cannot promise that these will always be suitable or sufficient in number for every member of your party. Please also note that, from time to time, bicycles may not be available because of the need for repairs.
Babysitting – In many of our houses it is possible to arrange for baby sitting for an approximate charge of €8 per hour payable locally. This can sometimes be pre-booked or arranged locally. Full details on request. Baby sitters may often not speak English.
Website Accuracy – Every effort has been made by our company to ensure that the information featured is as accurate as possible. However, as our programme is planned many months in advance, it may occur that some facilities mentioned may have altered or been temporarily withdrawn, due to reasons such as adverse weather conditions, lack of demand, reparation work, and maintenance and so on, and therefore you should be prepared for this eventuality. It may happen that owners decide to change their accommodation arrangements to improve their facilities. Also, swimming pools are periodically emptied for cleaning and maintenance and may be temporarily unavailable. However, when we are told of any significant change, we will advise you when you book or, where you have already booked, before your departure if possible. We reserve the right to make any changes to any description or price contained in our website at any time after publication. We will inform you of any changes that we become aware off. However, we do limit the advice to what we feel is an important part of our contract or which we feel will greatly affect your enjoyment. To enable us to fulfil this we would ask you to advise us of any particular facilities that are important to you at the time of booking your holiday.
Travel Advice – The Foreign & Commonwealth Office Travel Advice Unit may have issued information about your holiday destination. You are advised to check this information on the FCO website or call the FCO Travel Advice Unit on 0845 850 2829. Alternatively, you can contact the ABTA Information Department on 0891 202520 (calls charged at 50p/min).
Medical Treatment – Reciprocal agreements exist in the European Union enabling citizens of member countries to receive some free medical treatment on production of an EHIC card. Application forms are available from post offices or department of health. We highly recommend taking out further medical insurance, as confirmed in the Personal Travel Insurance, outlined below and not relying exclusively on these arrangements since they may not be very comprehensive.
Passports & Visas – If you hold a Commonwealth or non-British passport, please check visa regulations with the consulate of the country you will be visiting. It is your responsibility to be in possession of a valid passport and any visa that may be necessary. You should allow ample time when making visa applications and check for recent changes to visa/passport requirements. At the time of going to print, unlessotherwise specified in this brochure, you do not need a visafor any destination, provided you have a British passport, except for Japan (see Japan section). Children not already included on a ten-year passport must hold their own passport. If you are 16yrs or over and have never applied for a passport, we recommend you apply for one at least six weeks before your holiday commences. The UK Passport Service must confirm your identity before issuing your first passport and will ask you to attend an interview in order to do so. UK Adviceline tel: 0870 5210410. For Visa enquiries, please contact the Embassy or Consulate of the country you are visiting. (Please note that our staff are not qualified to offer advice on visas.)
Amendment – Any changes to your booking will result in a £20 amendment charge to a maximum of £45. Amendments will only be accepted from the party leader. Flight Tickets, Car Rental, Ferry Tickets and Insurance will be invoiced separately and full payment must be made at time of reservation. Paper tickets will only be sent out about 2-3 weeks before your departure although most tickets are e-tickets where only a reference number is required when checking in. We regret that we cannot send tickets to individual party members and all correspondence is sent to the party leader. In the event of very late bookings or lost tickets, replacements will be arranged "on departure".
Cancellations – These must be notified to Inghams Villas in writing and will be processed on the day on which they are received. Please see our booking conditions for a breakdown of cancellation charges. Failure to follow this procedure may prejudice any insurance claim.
With the considerable security that being part of such a successful group as Hotelplan Ltd provides, you can book your Inghams Villas holiday in the certain knowledge that nothing will be left to chance and that your money is completely safe. We are licensed as Tour Operators by the CAA (ATOL No. 0025) and are members of FTO and ABTA, so are fully bonded for the financial protection of all our holidays.
Inghams strongly recommends that all guests take out personal travel insurance which gives protection against the majority of incidents that can spoil a holiday. Please note that when renting a property in some countries in the European Union it is compulsory under the law to have adequate personal liability cover to meet the cost of any damage to your holiday property for which you may be later responsible.
