Local Cuisine
Being an island, seafood is dominant in Sicilian cuisine.
In Sicily a strong north African influence is evident in cooking, with couscous, peppers, aubergines tomatoes and chillies used frequently.
Pastries and deserts are excellent in Sicily especially ice creams and Sicily is the spiritual home of Zabaglione heavily laced with the local Marsala sweet wine.
