Destinations - France
France is our nearest neighbour, and yet remains a fascinating world apart.
It’s a country of contrasts with, perhaps, a greater variety of landscape than any other in Europe, a patchwork of high mountain slopes, dramatic river gorges, rich farmland and some 2000 miles of coastline.
The natural beauty of the countryside is complemented by charming market towns and villages whose timeless appeal is rooted in the traditions of a largely rural way of life, whilst France’s colourful history has left a rich cultural legacy of wonderful architecture in the many beautiful churches, fortified towns and châteaux. The climate, too, is as varied as the country, ranging from the cool, pure mountain air of the Alps to the warm Mediterranean climate of the south, with its long, sunny days.
You’ll find the easy going pace of life, enjoyed by the French, perfect for a relaxing holiday. You can go shopping for fresh local produce in the many bountiful markets throughout France, enjoy breakfasts, of freshly baked croissants and picnic lunches of crispy French baguette, paté and lovely cheeses washed down by local wine.
And, of course, you can enjoy what many regard as the finest cuisine in the world, matched by the great wines for which France is justly famous.
